I think you should know what fee to expect before going in. My fee is based on the forms and supporting schedules needed in your return. For most individual income tax returns I prepare the fee is $100 for federal, and state returns.
Fees also depend on the complexity of your return, for the other Schedules that are attached are $40.00 each. Most clients have two or three supporting schedules, such as 1099 Misc./self-employment income (Sch C), a rental property (Sch E), investment transactions (Sch D) and farm activities (Sch F).
For example, a married couple or individual with only W-2 income, kids, with a city tax return, usually $100. A married couple or individual owning a home, itemizing deductions, and a city tax return, usually $100. A married couple or individual, with itemized deductions, and self-employed (1099 Misc.) income, usually $140. An individual or married couple, itemized deductions, owning a rental property, usually $140. An individual or married couple, with itemized deductions and some investment income, $140.
For business returns, most returns start at $150.00 and that prices depend on the complexity of the business and how well organized the books are.

- Special on Dependent Returns – $30.00. The dependent parent’s must file with me and is being claimed on the parents tax return.

- Sch A {Itemized Deductions} – free, if all the receipts and calculating business expenses are added…adding up receipts or calculating business expenses $25.00 per every 15 minutes.
- Sch B {Interest and Dividends} – freed
- Sch D {Capital Gain or Loss} – $40.00
- Sch C {for an actual brick and mortar business, online business, or more complex self-employment income} – $40.00 starting price, if documents/receipts are organized. If documents/receipts are not organized, bookkeeping fees for adding up receipts or calculating business – $25.00
- Sch E {Rental Property} – $40.00 each property
- 1040X Amended Returns – The fee is based on the amount of time required with a $100.00 minimum fee.
- Form 1065 Partnerships. – $150 starting price, if documents/receipts are organized. If documents/receipts are not organized, bookkeeping fees for adding up receipts or calculating business expenses – $25 per fifteen minutes.
- Form 1120 Corporations. – $150 starting price, if documents/receipts are organized. If documents/receipts are not organized, bookkeeping fees for adding up receipts or calculating business expenses – $25 per fifteen minutes.
- Bookkeeping fee for adding up receipts or calculating business expenses – $25 per fifteen minutes.
- Forms and supporting schedules not listed here will be based on time needed to complete the form at $25 per fifteen minutes. Coupons.
